Siegfried Gursche is a true pioneer of the health food movement in Canada, with a career that spans over 50 years. Siegfried founded Alpha Health Products in 1964, Flora Distributors in 1956 and alive magazine in 1975. Siegfried served a two-year term as president of the CHFA.
In 1992 he created the alive Academy of Natural Health and in 1993 the alive Awards of Excellence industry recognition program. Siegfried was honored for his contribution to the growth of the Canadian Natural Health Movement with his induction into the Canadian Health Food Association's Hall of Fame. In 1996 he accepted his Master Herbalist degree from the Dominion Herbal College.
Siegfried is the author of Fantastic Flax, Good Fats and Oils, Juicing for the Health of It and Coconut Oil. He was also the publisher of two groundbreaking bestsellers, Fats That Heal & Fats that Kill by Udo Erasmus, and The Encyclopedia of Natural Health, becoming the first health publisher to win the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award.
